MEMBERSHIP
The Sacramento chapter of AWRT (SAWRT) provides media professionals with networking and mentoring opportunities through our regularly scheduled luncheon programs, workshops and outreach programs. Members also have the opportunity to volunteer for chapter projects or committees in order to support SAWRT.
Although created to support the growth and promotion of women, AWRT is open to men who are encouraged to join and share their knowledge, talent and time.
SAWRT meets the second Wednesday of odd numbered months at Arden Hills Country Club in Fair Oaks for a luncheon with guest speakers or panelists. In 2007, mark your calendar for March 28, May 9, September 12 and November 14.
Workshops are typically two hours long and take place on non-luncheon or even numbered months. Topics vary and have included; secrets to selling, how to the ideal account executive and news story writing.
Our January 16, 2008 luncheon celebrates the winners of The Good News Awards which is a no-entry-fee competition open to Northern California broadcast news outlets. Funded by PG&E, this program recognizes broadcast news stories that focus on the positive and “further the triumph of the human spirit” along with recognizing three regional area college or high school students with scholarships.
